Middle Eastern real estate investors are partnering with US developers to make significant investments into US property. The Kuwait Real Estate Company (Aqarat) has partnered with New York’s Synapse Development Group to invest a total of 25 million USD in various US properties in the future.
Aqarat and Synapse will also be leveraging their capital with an outside investor in order to acquire 200 million USD worth of real estate, according to Synapse Chief Executive Justin Palmer. “This is a calculated maneuver to invest more capital in U.S. real estate,” Palmer commented.
Investcorp, an alternative asset manager based in Bahrain, has also made significant investments in the US. The firm acquired eight multi-family properties for an estimated 400 million USD last year. The properties are located in Chicago, Denver, Dallas, Atlanta and Las Vegas, and comprise a total of 3,400 units.
Investment from the Middle East hit an estimated 18 to 20 billion USD in 2015. For Middle Eastern investors looking to divest from oil and protect their assets from regional instability, US property represents a safe haven for their capital.
Although the region’s larger family offices and sovereign wealth funds are known for regularly making large investments overseas, weaker economic growth in the region and rising geopolitical tensions have driven many Middle Eastern investors to seek opportunities abroad for the very first time.
Middle Eastern investors who are planning to enter the US real estate market often turn to trusted facilitators to source high-potential opportunities. Naseba has spent over a decade building close relationships with investors in the Middle East. Our analysts conduct daily phone calls with these investors, and fully understand their needs and mandates.
On October 17th, 2016, in Dubai, Naseba will be organising the US Real Estate Investment Meeting. At the meeting, pre-screened Chinese investors will be introduced to pre-qualified US real estate investment opportunities.
