The investment arm of the Kingdom of Bahrain, Mumtalakat Holding Company, has announced the recent successful acquisition of an equity stake in KOS Group, a European healthcare group that provides long-term care and rehabilitation services, as well as hospital equipment management, cancer care services and diagnostics.
Based in Italy, KOS Group operates over 76 dedicated healthcare facilities comprising 7,200 beds. The group also operates diagnostics and cancer care services units in India and the UK.
Mumtalakat now hold a significant stake in KOS Group – alongside CIR, the existing majority shareholders. The investment will be facilitated by a consortium organised by a leading Italian infrastructure fund. According to a press release provided by Mumtalakat, the acquisition “highlights Mumtalakat’s objective to invest in the healthcare sector, which is projected to steadily grow regionally and internationally. Mumtalakat aims to support KOS Group’s potential expansion into the Kingdom of Bahrain and the broader GCC market.”
