His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates, and Ruler of Dubai, has launched the “Dubai Cyber Security Strategy” that aims to strengthen Dubai’s position as a world leader in innovation, safety and security.
His Highness called for unifying the efforts of public and private sector institutions to provide a secure cyber space and make Dubai the safest digital city in the world.
The plan focuses on five main domains; the first is to raise cyber security awareness and develop the skills and capabilities required to manage cyber security risks.
With an environment already fostering innovation in other sectors such as finance, the second domain of Dubai’s strategy focuses on promoting research and development in the field of cyber security.
The objective of the third domain is to build a secure cyberspace “Cyber Security” by establishing controls to protect the confidentiality, integrity, availability and privacy of data among citizens in the emirate,
The fourth domain will focus on maintaining the flexibility of the cyberspace “Cyber Resilience” and ensuring the continuity and availability of IT systems in cyberspace.
The fifth domain is concerned with national and international collaboration. Partnerships among local, international, public and private entities are mandatory to achieve the main objectives of this strategy.
In the near future, Dubai plans to release a number of initiatives to help achieve the strategy’s objectives of developing resilient cyber security and making Dubai a global model for cyber security.
On September 20, 2017, Naseba is organising the 10TH CYBER DEFENCE SUMMIT to help turn this strategy to a reality.
It will connect cyber security solution providers and 120 IT decision makers to facilitate knowledge sharing, high-level networking and pre-scheduled one-to-one business meetings.
