Earlier this month, representatives from 90 Chinese companies attended a seminar promoting investment in Kenya, Zambia, Mozambique and Ethiopia. Chinese investors gained awareness of the opportunities available in these four African countries, and joined discussions on potential investment projects.
Senior government officials from the four African countries provided Chinese investors with information on their national investment climates. Chinese companies gave presentations detailing their experiences investing in the countries.
Investment promotion officers from the Kenya Investment Authority, the Zambia Development Agency, the Mozambique Investment Promotion Centre and the Ethiopia Investment Commission presented Chinese investors with opportunities in their countries – mainly in the agro-processing and light-manufacturing sectors.
Chinese investors and business cases from the four African countries stated that the seminar allowed them to establish direct contacts and build mutually beneficial business relationships. Ethiopia’s former Foreign Minister and current Ambassador to China, said that initiatives designed to promote investments in Africa have the potential to “truly assist [Africa] to become the next growth pole for the global economy.”
On July 27th 2016, Naseba is organising the African Investors Meeting in Beijing, China. At the meeting, pre-screened Chinese investors will be introduced to pre-qualified African investment opportunities.
