Investors based in the Middle East are increasingly recognising the wealth of opportunity available in India’s healthcare market, which is developing rapidly. Its development is rising on an incoming tide of foreign capital, provided mainly by institutional investors from liquid markets like the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) – a region comprising the oil-rich nations of Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Oman, Qatar, Bahrain and Kuwait.
Abraaj Capital, a major regional investment firm based in Dubai, recently acquired Care Hospital, based in Hyderabad, for 300 million USD. Individual investors based in the Middle East are also entering the fray, with BR Shetty of NMC Healthcare and Azad Moopen of Aster DM Healthcare looking to expand their presence in the Indian healthcare market.
Middle Eastern investors are drawn to the potential for significant and steady revenue demonstrated by Indian healthcare opportunities like KIMS Hospitals. The private healthcare chain operates a network of hospitals comprising 2,000 beds across Southern India and the Middle East. It recently attracted 220 million USD worth of capital from investors who recognised its growth potential. The hospital network is present in every GCC country except for Kuwait.
Naseba is a deal facilitator that has spent over a decade building a network of contacts with investors from around the world – including the GCC. This network includes family offices, sovereign wealth funds, investment firms, high net worth individuals and members of royalty.
Our investor analyst team speaks to investors on a daily basis in order to fully understand their needs and mandates. The team is currently sourcing high-potential, innovative healthcare investment opportunities on behalf of these investors.
On 4th and 5th, October 2016, we will be organising a private investor meeting in Dubai and Riyadh to introduce pre-screened Middle Eastern investors to pre-qualified healthcare investment opportunities.
